Cloud makes the case that some things have to end well before something new can begin, and that avoiding those endings usually costs more than the ending itself would have.

It's a book about pruning — in relationships, in business, in the parts of ourselves we've outgrown.

I recommend it to clients standing at a threshold who need permission to close a door they've been propping open out of guilt.
