Waking the Tiger

BOOK REVIEW

Waking the Tiger by
Peter A. Levine

Levine, the founder of Somatic Experiencing, makes the case that trauma is not something we think our way out of; it's something the body has to move through and complete.

He looks to how animals in the wild discharge threat and reset almost immediately, and asks why humans so often get stuck mid-process instead.

This is a foundational read for anyone doing somatic work, and it gave language to things I had sensed in sessions long before I had the framework for them.
